Welcome to the Internet home of Michael Dickey.

I’ve tried to start blogging several times, but it never really caught on. My thoughts tend to bounce around between different topics a lot, and I only rarely feel like I have something worth saying. But when I do want to write about something, I feel that blogging is a good way to express myself.

In a former life, I was a fairly avid writer. I could easily express my feelings in words. However, since the beginning of my professional career, all of my writing has been about technology, often in the form of e-mails or white papers. As so often seems to happen in life, my job overwhelmed my past times.

Lately, I’ve found it much easier to write about things relating either to technologies that I work with or am just very interested in. I first setup a couple “island” sites for this because I felt that blogs should be restricted by topic. I’ve since decided to discard this stereotype and merge everything into a single place. This blog will therefore be a mixture of musings on a variety of topics; the sky is the limit. To maintain some form of context, I will classify posts using categories.

Real life is a blend of thoughts between work and play, and so it will be with my blog. By removing this barrier, I am hopeful that over time I will once again become more comfortable writing about things unrelated to technology, and revive what my job stole from me many years ago.

For more information on my career, it’s best to read through my LinkedIn profile. I am a computer programmer and entrepreneur with a background in enterprise software. My particular interests center around Internet technologies and emerging trends in information theory. I am also very interested in virtual worlds and Web3D technologies.
